But
today’s blog is about something that shook me so much that it still brings me
to tears. As I photographed & chased those happy feet running into their
loves arms, I notice something huge for me. There were a lot of men coming off
that plane with no one to greet them like families & friends like other
homecomings. As I stood around for a moment to look around me, I see men
standing to the side as wives kissed their husband, kids jump into daddy’s
arms, and friends greet with a huge and welcome home.
I
understand this happens and will continue to happen. Not many are lucky to have
family there to give them that welcome back huge. When I came home I shared
this with my husband who told me “It happens and I was once that kid”. That
really struck me more, because I never want anyone to feel that empty and
watching others get those sweet hugs. I learn that not only my husband had that
experience but good friends as well. So from this point on, when I am at more
homecomings or pre-deployments, I shall reach out and huge another military
service member. Wish them good luck, come back home safe, welcome home and
thank you for what you have done. I encourage many of you to do the same, it’s
not much but it’s something that can change a young boy leaving or returning in
his experience of feeling the love we have for them and all that they do. So
enjoy the few images I was able to capture during my homecoming session. Thank you!
ALL images are from current and previous homecomings.. Realizing so much!
